Nobody deserves violence and you have the right to be safe.

Domestic and family violence:

  • can happen to anyone, in any community, in all cultures, to young and old
  • does not always involve physical violence
  • is abusive behaviour used by one person to exert power and control over another person
  • is usually an ongoing pattern of behaviour aimed at controlling a partner (also known as coercive control)
  • includes a wide variety of behaviours including social, financial, psychological and technology-facilitated abuse.
