DANCE.HERE.NOW. is a three year dance development initiative lead by council. This initiative is in partnership with dance sector professionals. It will create more opportunities to experience dance and get more people dancing across the Sunshine Coast. It's focus is on increasing participation, professional practice, programming, networks and spaces for dance through partnerships, collaboration and new approaches.
Funded through the Regional Arts Development Fund it has the support of key internal and external partners. These include Ausdance Queensland, Healthy Sunshine Coast, Horizon Festival and LJ Projects.
Professional Annual Dance Residency
An Expressions of interest process was opened for the 2022 Professional Funded Dance Residency, in partnership with LJ Projects . This opportunity was open to individual artists or collectives nationally with a contemporary professional dance practice and offers a contribution of up to $8,000.
In 2021, we saw Lisa Wilson in residence at 2nd Space, Nambour for the initial development of a new work titled Sensitive Chaos. In 2022 we were particularly looking for artists that embrace digital and emerging technologies to develop their practice.
VOiiid Collective were the successful applications for 2022. Hosted at 2nd Space VOiiid Collective continued to develop their project ‘My Alienated Family’. A cross disciplinary work that incorporates digital technologies and dance to explore different forms of femininity.
